CNC tools are not as fast as they can be, so why passivate them? In fact, tool passivation is not what people literally understand, but it is a way to improve the service life of the tool. The quality of the tool is improved by levelling, polishing and deburring. This is actually a normal process for tools after fine grinding and before coating.
The tool will be sharpened by grinding wheel before finished product, but the sharpening process will cause different degrees of micro-chipping. Machining centre in the high-speed cutting at the same time microscopic gap will be very easy to expand, accelerate the tool wear and damage. Modern cutting technology in the stability and precision of the tool have strict requirements, so CNC tools in the coating must be passivated before the cutter to ensure that the coating of the firmness and service life. The benefits of tool passivation are:
1. Resistance to physical wear of the tool
In the cutting process the tool surface will be gradually worn out by the workpiece, the cutting edge is also prone to plastic deformation under high temperature and pressure during the cutting process. The passivation treatment of the tool can help improve the rigidity of the tool to avoid premature loss of cutting performance.
2. Maintain the workpiece finish
Burrs on the cutting edge of the tool will lead to tool wear, and the surface of the workpiece will become rough. After passivation treatment, the cutting edge of the tool will become very smooth, the phenomenon of chipping will be reduced accordingly, and the surface finish of the workpiece will be improved.
3. Convenient chip removal from the groove
The tool groove polishing treatment can improve the surface quality and chip removal performance, the more flat and smooth the surface of the groove, the better the chip removal, you can achieve a more coherent cutting process. Machining centre CNC tool after passivation and polishing, the surface will leave many small holes, these small holes in the processing can adsorb more cutting fluid, so that the heat generated by the cutting is greatly reduced, greatly improving the speed of cutting and processing.
