Sandblasting is a process that uses compressed air as the power to form a high-speed jet beam that sprays materials (copper ore, quartz sand, diamond sand, iron sand, sea sand) at high speed onto the surface of the workpiece to be treated, causing changes in the appearance or shape of the workpiece surface.
Due to the impact and cutting effects of abrasives on the surface of the workpiece, the surface of the workpiece obtains a certain degree of cleanliness and different roughness, which improves the mechanical properties of the workpiece surface. Therefore, the fatigue resistance of the workpiece is improved, the adhesion between it and the coating is increased, the durability of the coating is extended, and it is also conducive to the leveling and decoration of the coating.
Rust removal can be achieved by sandblasting, which is mainly a high-speed spraying method formed by the principle of air compression. Sandblasting materials can be divided into several types, namely garnet sand, quartz sand, copper ore sand, iron sand, diamond sand, etc. This type of sandblasting used on the surface of workpieces can help remove rust and effectively improve their surface.
The pre-treatment stage of sandblasting process refers to the treatment that should be carried out on the surface of the workpiece before being sprayed or coated with a protective layer.
The quality of pre-treatment in sandblasting technology affects the adhesion, appearance, moisture resistance, and corrosion resistance of coatings. If the pre-treatment work is not done well, rust will continue to spread under the coating, causing the coating to peel off in pieces.
After careful cleaning of the surface and general simple cleaning of the workpiece, the coating life can be compared by 4-5 times using the sun exposure method. There are many methods for surface cleaning, but the most commonly accepted ones are solvent cleaning, acid washing, manual tools, and power tools.
