1, What is turing?
Turning, also known as lathe processing, is a part of machining. Lathe machining mainly uses the turning tool to turn the rotating workpiece. In the lathe, drill, reaming drill, reamer, tap, die and knurled tools can all be used for the corresponding processing. Lathes are mainly used to process shafts, discs, sleeves and other workpieces with rotating surfaces, and are the most widely used machine tools in mechanical manufacturing and repair factories.
2, What is milling?
Milling refers to the use of rotating multi-edge tools to cut the workpiece, which is a high-efficiency processing method. When working, the tool rotates (for the main movement), the workpiece moves (for the feed movement), the workpiece can also be fixed, but at this time the rotating tool must also move (at the same time to complete the main movement and feed movement).
3, The difference between turning and milling.
The difference is that turning is suitable for processing rotary surface, most of the workpiece with rotary surface can be processed by turning method, such as internal and external cylindrical surface, internal and external conical surface, end face, groove, thread and rotary forming surface, etc., the tool used is mainly turning tool. Milling is to fix the blank and use a high-speed rotating milling cutter to cut out the desired shape and features. While traditional milling is mostly used to mill simple shapes/features such as contours and grooves, CNC milling machines can process complex shapes and features. A milling cutter is a rotary tool with one or more teeth for milling. When working, each cutter tooth successively intermittently cuts off the workpiece's margin. Milling cutter is mainly used for machining planes, steps, grooves, forming surfaces.
